Having a baby is an amazing and life changing experience. However, most ladies end up with postpartum depression after giving birth. More than eighty percent of new mothers deal with mood swings and feelings of sadness. In most cases, this depression can last for a few weeks or even months.

If you’re struggling with postpartum depression, try to improve on your diet and food game. Eat more healthy fruits and vegetables as well as proteins like beans and eggs. Don’t forget about liquid foods either. Breastfeeding mothers should drink 12 to 14 glasses of water to stay hydrated and ensure the baby gets enough milk.
As a new mum, try as much as possible to always have good quality sleep. You would need all the time to rest and get back in full health. Don't go back to work almost immediately. Sleep for as much as you can because you would need it. Its definitely not easy having a baby.
Always surround yourself with your family and friends. Those who make you feel loved and cared for. This would go a very long way in keeping you off being depressed. Go out with your friends once in a while or visit your family. Build a support system free from toxic people, this would really help your mental health.
Your life and body would definitely go through a whole lot of changing after giving birth. Most women start becoming ashamed of their bodies after pregnancy and this is usually what causes postpartum depression. The sooner you start to accept your new reality, the faster you’ll be able to make the most out of it. Adjusting isn't always easy but you just have to do it.
