In the era many high profile footballers in the top tier league in South Africa tend to make the kind of money that the majority of people can dream of.

Over the years a number of these professionals have been able to increase their wealth post retirement.

In the past two decades the goal scoring charts in the top tier league in South Africa have constantly been dominated by foreign born forwards. Back in the 2005/06 season Senegalese retired forward Mame Niang walked with the accolade after finishing the campaign with 14 goals during his time at Moroka Swallows.

Following his exciting run Mame Niang who stood over 2 metres tall went to ply his trade in the lucrative leagues in Europe where he was guaranteed tons of money. Four years later the 37 year old retired footballer returned to South Africa where he played for Supersport United, University of Pretoria and Mamelodi Sundowns before jetting off to Europe for a second spell.

In 2017 the Dakar born retired forward returned to South Africa for a third spell and a season later he announced his retirement from football. Post his retirement from football the former Moroka Swallows and Mamelodi Sundowns forward relocated to Norway where he currently resides with his beautiful wife Maren and their two sons.

As of late the former Mamelodi Sundowns forward recently ventured into an income stream which is not popular within the football industry, crypto mining. On Wednesday Mame Niang took to his Instagram account to flaunt his crypo bank balance after having initially invested $2 500 (R37 375).

Taking to the popular platform Mame Niang would go to share that he had made $13 000 as profit in 9 hours, a value in the region of R194 740. Besides being a successful trader the former PSL star also owns an eatery (Shisa nyama) in Johannesburg.
