Gatundu Residents Chase Away Dam Workers From Sh24b Dam Project

People living in Gatundu North area in Kiambu County have chased away all construction workers Sh24 Billion Karimenu II Dam Project. The incident took place today, April 13.

The residents of Gatundu chased away the Dam workers, claiming that the government have not paid compensation for the land that was surrendered to them.

In their large number, the Gatundu residents forced the dam's escavator operators to dig trenches at major points of entry and exit. After that, the residents forced the workers to leave the site.

Police officials that were called to the scene couldn't control the situation. They watched as the angered mob took charge of the dam's operations.

According to the group, after they surrendered their land that is about 383 acres to the government, they took loads to acquire and build new homes with the hope that the government will fulfill its promise of paying them compensation. But till date, the government have not paid a single compensation for their land.
