Maradona Yeboah Adjei, known by his stage names Guru or Gurunkz, is a Ghanaian rapper, known for the “lapaz toyota” hit song. Guru is one of the most successful hiplife artist in Ghana. He is known for his contemporary hiplife rap style that combines English and Ghanaian indigenous languages.

Not long ago, he was trending with Kuami Eugene over some alleged collaboration issues, where he explained yesterday that, he has nothing against Lynx Entertainment and Kuami was not truthful in his comments.

During his interview with Nana Aba Anamoah on the Starrchat show, he hinted on the point that, the Ghana music awards schemes are not transparent and fair to the various artists.

He went on to say that, during his peak, he was given eleven nominations but won even not a single award because he had no connections with the schemes board members. He said that, most of the board members of these awards schemes are artists managers who are always trying to make their artists to win the most awards.

He went on to say that, after that experience, he almost gave up on his music career because they made him feel like he hasn’t done enough and the even went through depression.

He concluded that, the various awards schemes are rather killing the careers of some young musicians than helping them reach their peaks.

What do you make of these solid points raised by Guru? Let’s hear from you in the comments below.
