The Chelsea Women team have emerged champions of the Barclays FA Women's Super League and they did it in a spectacular fashion on Sunday even as they set their eyes on more glory in the Champions League.
On Sunday at Kingsmeadow, the Chelsea Women needed to win to be confirmed as champions and they put up a five-star display; trouncing Reading 5-0.
A brace from Fran Kirby and one apiece for Melanie Leupolz, Sam Kerr and Erin Cuthbert saw the Blues winning a record fourth league title in six years.
They have now become the most sucessful team in England having overtaken their London rivals, Arsenal who have three titles to their name.
It was equally the first time the Barclays FA Women's Super League will be having a back-to-back champion.
The Blues travel to Gothenburg in Sweden to take on Barcelona next Sunday, when a new name will be written on the Women’s Champions League trophy.
