Maritzburg United have announced that they have parted ways with their defender Siyanda Xulu after spending three years with the club.
The 28-year-old Bafana Bafana defender has previously played for Mamelodi Sundowns, FC Rostov and Kaizer Chiefs before joining the Team of Choice in 2017.
Siyanda Xulu’s agent Paul Mitchell had revealed that the Bafana Bafana defender will complete the season with Maritzburg United when it resumes having been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. But the team of choice decided to let him go.
Rumours has linked the lanky defender to Mayfair side, Orlando Pirates. Pirates defence has been leaking goals since the departure of the likes of Siyabonga Sangweni and Lucky Lekgwathi.
"The club can confirm that we have parted ways with defender Siyanda Xulu. Thank you for 3 amazing years of solid performances and leadership both on and off the field. We wish you all the best in your future endeavours, 'Mgz' 💙," reads their tweet.
Xulu has managed to revive his career at the Team of Choice following a disappointing two-year spell at Chiefs where he struggled for game time.
The former FC Rostov player made only six appearances in the league for the Soweto giants with the likes of Lorenzo Gordinho and Eric Mathoho preferred ahead of him.
