Weeks after being removed from the Orange Democratic Movement party leadership position, Kilifi governor Amason Jeffah Kingi has intensified his bid to have a coastal party ahead of the 2022 general elections.
The second time governor recently registered his own party PAA, he has since embarked on mass registration to give the party a national outlook, he has also embarked on opening new offices within Kilifi county and outside.
In what appears to be taking the battle to his Mombasa counterpart governor Joho's doorstep, the governor has opened an office with Intensified registration of new members, according to reports, the party has recieved an overwhelming support with many Mombasa residents thronging its offices to be registered as members, this has sent a warning to the Orange Democratic Movement party which has been enjoying the support of the coastal region counties.
The party intends to open 30 offices in different regions and will cover 40 counties. This takes ODM back to the drawing board as it faces loosing support in the region. Ruto's UDA which has also been trying to make inroads into the region has to draw new plans with the emergence of the new party, it is now clear that UDA will have hard time to get a significant share of the region's support.
