Since the start of this year, we've been seeing a lot of security alerts by the Ghana security agencies trying to inform the general public about their awareness of terrorists.
During the weekend, the information ministry, Kojo Nkrumah Opong himself, explained what is actually going on.
He said, "As recently as May the 11th, 2022 in Togo, about 10 military personnel died as a result of one such terrorist attack." Increasingly, intelligence reports suggest that some Ghanaians have been involved in terrorist attacks in the Sahelian region.
This signals that there has been the possible recruitment of Ghanaians by some of these terrorist groups in the West African sub-Region. "
The Ministry of National Security has authorised an increased level of awareness among the intelligence community and seeks to deepen engagement with the Ghanaian public, in line with contemporary security practices. "
Over the past few years, there have been many claims of the presence of some Ghanaian citizens in these extremist groups, which is a serious headache.
The presence of Ghanaians in their extremist groups might cause these terrorists to attack Ghana because, as of now, "Ghana is hard" as they say, and they might think of attacking the country since they're not happy with its current state.
According to the minister of information, the security agencies in Ghana will give their all to make sure there's no attack in the country, but they can't do it all on their own. They need our help by informing them when we spot suspicious people in our communities.
Do you think these security alerts from the government as of this time is the best step they've taken?
