The Edo state Peoples Democratic Party has just conducted its primaries elections in the state and governor Godwin Obaseki has emerged as the governorship candidate of the party in Edo State. There is wild jubilation on the street following his emergence.
Although his only rival, Ken Imasuagbon stepped down for him to return unopposed just few minutes to begin the primaries.
It could be recalled that Imasuagbon had previously vowed not to step down for Obaseki but lo and behold, he announced his withdrawal from the race few minutes to the commencement of the primaries thereby making all the 2,229 delegates to choose governor Obaseki as the PDP governorship flagbearer. Although, voting will still go on to affirm the candidacy of Mr Obaseki.
Following Mr Obaseki's emergence, it is clear that he may be contesting with Pastor Ize Iyamu of All Progressive Congress and others.
Congratulations to Mr Godwin Obaseki.
