Girl, 14, Rescued By a Sub-chief From An Alleged Forced Marriage

A 14-year-old girl has been rescued by the Sub-chief of Mabunge area in Busia from an alleged forced marriage.

According to the Sub-chief identified as Josephine Juma, on April 31, 2022, she got wind of the incident from Nyumba kumi official that the victim was being forced to marry a 50-year-old by her mother.

After getting the information, Josephine toured the victim’s home.

Josephine said she got the girl and interrogated her to establish the motive behind the forced marriage.

It was during this time that the victim opened up and narrated her story to the Sub-chief and revealed how she ended up at the home of her husband to be.

On her side, the girl told the Sub-chief that she was sold at unknown cash by her mother.

According to the girl, she was studying at Bukhalarire primary school and she obtained 325 marks.

" I was studying at Bukhalarire primary school. I scored 325 marks in KCPE. My mother forced me to get married and am still young, am14 years. The Sub-chief came and rescued me.
