Manchester United's game against Atalanta today is a must-win clash for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Norwegian boss has come under pressure in recent weeks after a series of bad results with the United first team. Fans and pundits alike have been trying to analyse the problem with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team but till this moment, they've not come up with the reason for United's surprising loss of form. With Sancho, Ronaldo and Varane, one would think that Man United strengthened all the positions in the squad but recent results have proven otherwise.
Italian side Atalanta who is set to visit Old Trafford today is not an easy team to play against for anyone. They've had moments where they lost games this season but that can happen to any team. To get the win today, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must be spot on with his team selection and tactics. With that being said, I think that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should try to mix things up a bit today and try a new tactic or should I say strategy. And this new strategy involves benching Cristiano Ronaldo for Edinson Cavani to see how the performance of the team would be. Not only that, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should push Paul Pogba up, towards the left-wing just as he did in the first few weeks of the season.
Now, most fans would not agree with me on this, especially as I said that Ronaldo should be benched but the reason for this is that I want to see if United can replicate those performances that won them games at the beginning of the season without Ronaldo. Yes, United were on top form before Ronaldo's arrival but now, with Ronaldo in the team, things look a bit mixed up for Ole. His role in the team seems to be a hindrance to some of United's attacking players hence the need to try out something new. For those of you worried about Ronaldo's game time if Ole does this, it does not necessarily mean that the Portuguese would be left out of the team permanently, no. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would still find a way to fix him in but for now, it's important to get the team back to winning ways because of his job. And losing today's game would put a setback in United's plans to qualify from their UCL group as the top team.
