If You Lift Without This Health and Safety Equipment, Your Health Could Be At Risk

Regular physical activity is vital for good physical, social and emotional health. While there is a risk of injury with any type of physical activity, the benefits of staying active far outweigh the risks. You can reduce your risk of exercise injury by wearing the right shoes, using the correct equipment, drinking lots of water, and warming up and stretching properly.

So to prevent serious injuries in the gym, these types of equipment are important if you lift weights and exercise.

Weight Belt

Also called a weightlifting belt this tool offers protection for your back and spine while lifting, particularly powerlifting. More important than this tool, however, is your attention to form. Be sure to lift with your legs rather than your back as your first line of defense against injury. Also, be sure your feet are planted firmly on the floor and keep your spine in a neutral position as you lift. Keep your awareness in your body as you lift so that you immediately notice and correct poor form and/or stop if you feel undue pain or discomfort.

Compression Sleeves

Compression clothes have been a recent fad in the last several years. You've probably seen a commercial or two about different types of compression wear and a celebrity endorsement or two. While you're working out, compression sleeves can help you improve blood flow to the targeted muscle groups. Research suggests that there is a potential link in the ability of compression clothing to aid in muscle recovery after a workout.

Wrist Wraps

Wrist wraps can help you keep your wrist straight when pressing during weight lifting. The wrap, when worn appropriately, can prevent injury by providing supportive alignment. Wrap tightly, but not so tightly that you feel numb, to give your wrist the best support.

Knee Wraps:

Knee wraps are used to keep your knees stable during exercises that use your knees such as squats. They help make your joint intact and prevent sprains on your knee ligaments.
