Islamic marriage and its concepts


Marriage is Islam is a legal contract,known as Nikah.the nikah ceremony is one part of several steps of a marriage arrangement considered ideal by Islam tradition. The key steps include the following:1) The proposal:in Islam,it is expected that the man will formally propose to the woman or her entire family .a formal proposal is considered an act of respect and dignity.

2) Mahr:A gift of money or another possession is given by the groom to the bride as agreed upon before the entire ceremony.this could be monetary value,jewelries or furniture e.t.c.

3) The Nikah ceremony:The wedding ceremony itself is where the marriage contract is amde official by signing of the document ,indicating she has accepted it of her own free will.Although the document itself must be agreed upon by the groom,the bride and their family member's,the bride consent is requires for the marriage to religion qualifications the couple officially become husband and wife by reciting this short dialogue.

The bride says I have given myself in Nikah to you,on the agreed mahr.

And the groom immediately says that he have accepted the Nikah..
