Frank Onyeka has become the latest Nigerian player in the English Premier League after being confirmed by Brentford FC.

The Nigerian midfielder joins newly-promoted Brentford on a five-year deal from FC Midtjylland in the Denmark Superligaen.

And although he recently became a full Nigerian international after making an appearance for the Super Eagles, Onyeka is still relatively unknown to lots of football fans.

Brentford are in luck, they have just signed an incredibly talented young midfielder with even more potential to be better for just £10 million, an absolute steal in today's market.

23-year Frank Onyeka is primarily a central midfielder, dogged and rugged in his approach and a box to box machine at his best.

Onyeka also plays as a traditional defensive midfielder, shielding the defence and can feature as a classic number 10, carrying the creative burden for his teams.

Frank Onyeka's new manager at Brentford and namesake, Thomas Frank is already salivating at the inclusion of the Nigerian in his team.

“I am looking forward to getting Frank in the building. We think he is a strong addition to the squad, and we are looking forward to working with him. He is a very dynamic player,” Thomas Frank told the club’s website.

He goes on to analyse Onyeka's fit in the team, “Frank plays as an eight in our system, he is very good at getting from box to box and will be valuable to us when we don’t have the ball."

Onyeka's durability and stamina will prove useful to Brentford in the long Premier League season, he has played 76 total games in all competitions for FC Midtjylland over the last two seasons, 71 of those as a starter.

Frank Onyeka is no stranger to the big stage as well, he featured in the Champions League with FC Midtjylland against Liverpool, Ajax and Atalanta.

Onyeka averaged six combined interceptions and tackles per game last season, the second-highest total in the Champions League, despite only playing six group stage games.

This is the type of quality that Brentford have just added to their squad for just £10 million, they have a potential superstar on their hands.

The club fully recognises Frank Onyeka's potential, having tied down the 23-year old on a five-year contract.

He's already so good without yet entering his prime, Frank is expected to treat Brentford as a stepping stone and move to a bigger club in the next few years.

But in the present, Frank Onyeka will be crucial to Brentford and their hopes of avoiding an instant return to the English Championship.
