President Buhari Government has reportedly ordered the closure of the Channels Television station, as well as arrest some of its journalists over recent interviews aired by the platform which are considered to be anti-government.

This was disclosed by the National Broadcasting Commission. According to them, the Buhari government, ordered the closure of Channels TV and the arrest of the station's pressmen, for interviewing Governor Ortom of Benue state, who brought up an alleged story of President Buhari's 'fulanisation' agenda, and a guest who revealed that, "the Buhari government top officers are sponsors of Boko Haram terrorists.."

According to reports, the station's pressmen are to be brought to Abuja tomorrow, 27th August, 2021.

The Sahara Reporters gathered that, this is not the first time the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), would suspend media organizations under president Buhari's regime. In 2019, the commission reportedly suspended Daar Communication’s AIT, for being too critical of the Federal Government.

Also in April 2021, NBC suspended Channels Television for airing an interview by the Indigenous People Of Biafra.
