KDF Dismiss The Recent Reports That Several Soldiers Have Tested Positive For Covid-19

Few days after reports went round that Kenya Defense Forces Barracks have been invaded by coronavirus pandemic the officers have dismissed the allegations.
The report had indicated that Kahawa Garrison and Embakazi Garrison has recorded high number of officers infected by the diseases and Kabate Barracks had been identified as one of the isolation centers.
The soldiers dismissed the report claiming its a propaganda and its meant to tarnish the image of the force despite being in forefront doing campaigns of eradicating the disease.
The soldiers who requested for anonymity due to rank and protocol issues pointed that during the immediate outbreak of coronavirus in March all barracks put up safety measures and all soldiers who were living outside the barracks were requested to relocate and live within barracks to minimize the interactions.
“we were shocked by the recent reports in the media some barracks have been affected by coronavirus disease access to barracks is complicated after the first incident were reported” said a soldier.
According to report it had indicated that approximately 80 soldiers had been affected by pandemic and Kahawa Garrison was had been established as testing center.
The report which has not gone well with soldiers pointed that entry to all barracks has not been easy as there's tough restrictions after the outbreak .
Many slums surrounding barracks like Githurai next to Kahawa Garrison ,Kangemi next to Kabete has been described as one of the factors contributing to the spread of the disease as many soldiers sneak to slums.
The Kenya Defense Forces have been in fore front in putting measures of mitigating the covid-19 challenges .
Recently the force participated in fumigating some residential areas within Nairobi as one way of eradicating and controlling the spread of the disease virus.
