The residents of Kasarani Village, Elburgon Ward of Molo Constituency, are now counting losses after fire burnt their homes.

According to reports seen on social media and confirmed by former Member of Parliament of that area, Hon Njenga Mungai, who was speaking this morning on kameme FM, over 70 homes were burnt to ashes.

On the saddest note, one person, a renowned grandmother from the region lost her life in the incident. According to a post shared on the Ward's facebook, the woman was captured at an event when the government was offering relief food due to Covid-19 effects in the area.

Further, the people of Elburgon, as seen above, lamented lack of fire fighting machinery as they depended on one from a private company in the area, Timsales Limited, which is sometimes busy or unavailable at the time of need.

For this reason, they called out the government to bring back a fire fighter machine which was available in Molo, but was later relocated to Nakuru.

Meanwhile, we wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased as they go through the hard times of being homeless and at the same time mourning. May her Soul Rest in Peace.
