In a recent report by PEOPLES GAZETTE, a retired army colonel, Tony Nyiam, disclosed that the Executive President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari had said that he is from Niger Republic.
"In one of the briefings, when he was briefing us he openly told us that his family, most of his family are from Niger and that he is a Nigerian officer and that he owes allegiance to Nigeria and I admired Buhari then, that a man whose family is partially from the Niger Republic and yet is loyal to Nigeria, this was against all the pressure given by other people that Shagari should pull out and allow the Chadians have their way, General Buhari refused,” Tony Nyiam said.
Tony Nyiam made the exposition while having a press briefing with Arise TV. He also highlighted the recent attacks by criminal herdsmen and its effect on the society. He also referred to President Muhammadu Buhari as his superior. He also made it known that Muhammadu Buhari had once said that most of the members of his family are Nigeriens, despite the fact that his loyalty lies to Nigeria.
For clarity, Tony Nyiam stated that while he was in the military, Muhammadu Buhari was his superior. He also revealed how President Muhammadu Buhari had a fall out with Shagari in a bid to protect Nigeria against the Chadians.

Thereafter, he added that the change in behavior on the part of Muhammadu Buhari could be answered by his wife. He added that the wife has been in a tug of war with those who seem to keep the president hostage. He added that the Executive President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is no longer the General Muhammadu Buhari he used to know all the while.
However, it has been on various news media that President Muhammadu Buhari hails from Daura, a settlement in Katsina State.
