Kenya's Emmanuel Korir has raised the joy of the country after winning the 800m at the Tokyo Olympics.

The win gives Kenya our first gold, in what has been an underwhelming performance in Japan.

It was a good day for Kenya, as Ferguson Rotich, finished second to ensure we also bagged the silver in the 2-lap race.

Earlier, Hyvin Kiyeng had won bronze in the women's 3000m steeplechase. Uganda's Peruth Chemutai won the gold.

Kenya has so far bagged one gold, two Silver medals, and 2 Bronze.

Every Kenyan is happy for this win making Kenya as a country to be popular and fame.

Day 12 of the Tokyo Olympics with several gold medals won as Andre De Grasse become the 200m Olympic champion, succeeding Usain Bolt. Elsewhere, Heptathlon world champion Katarina Johnson-Thompson injured her right calf muscle as she rounded the bend in the 200 metres and subsequently withdrew from the competition.

He injured her right calf muscle during the women's heptathlon on Wednesday, yet she waved away the medical team - with one person bringing a wheelchair to come and help the Brit - as she wanted to finish the race. Johnson-Thompson ended up limping over the line and earned plaudits from all around the world, as she exemplified the spirit of the Olympic Games.
