Hours After Governor Samuel Ortom Was Attacked By Suspected Herdsmen, Read The Action IGP Took

The incessant issue of insecurity we have been lamenting about, do not seem to be ending soon. From killings to abduction of citizens, criminals have been perpetrating all sorts of criminal activities. Also, these barbaric criminals are now emboldened to attack people in broad daylight without fear whatsoever. This was the case of the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom.

Yesterday, it was reported that gunmen suspected to be Fulani killer herdsmen attacked the convoy of Samuel Ortom, while he was going to his farm, to supervise the activities going on there. Around 12 noon, he was attacked at Tyo Mu along Makurdi/Gboko road. He narrowly escaped death, getting security from his personnels and since then, it has raised serious concerns from Nigerians.

In a bid to ensure maximum security around Governor Samuel Ortom and to speedily bring the perpetrators to justice, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has taken smart moves. According to Daily Post Nigeria, Mohammed Adamu has ordered that "painstaking investigations" should be carried out, to ensure that the unknown gunmen are brought to book.

In a statement released by the spokesman of the Police Force, Frank Mba, the IG of Police also deployed specialized investigators from the Police Force in Abuja, to Benue State to support the Benue State Police Command. The IG of Police, assured the residents of Benue State of maximum security.

He said "The IGP has also specifically instructed the CP to carry out painstaking investigations into the incident and ensure the arrest and prosecution of persons indicted in the course of the investigations. Also in order to ensure a speedy, thorough and conclusive investigation into the attack, the IGP has ordered the immediate deployment of a team of specialized investigators from the Force Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Abuja to Benue State to provide additional investigative support to the Benue State Police Command".
