Real Tamale United Head Coach, Shaibu Tanko, has stated his aim for the last game of the season was a win in line with premier league revival and hence escape relegation to lower tier football.

Tanko, believes players that Hearts of Oak assembled for the game was what tactically inspired a win against the defending champion in the last game for the 2021/2022 premier league season.

“My challenge was to win the match.

When I saw their lineup, I told them Hearts is going to play 4-3-3. Four back players, one holding, two offensive midfielders and three strikers.

You could see that I played three back so they should hold the strikers.

And then the two holding midfielders are being held by the middle strikers so we’ve the wing midfielder, you saw them”, he lamented.

Tanko, stressed on the abysmal display of the defending champion in the last four games of the season.

“A big club losing four matches on the streak, is not the best.

But thank God we have won our match that’s not my problem.

They are always afloat to keep the ball, and then two strikers with Abagna behind them as the third striker so that’s the trick”, he narrated.

Real Tamale United survived their maiden season appearance for the 2021/2022 premier league season by winning 4-1 against Accra Hearts of Oak.
