The Deputy CEO in charge of Finance and Administration at the National Youth Authority, Mrs. Akosua Asaa Manu has urged young people to begin to seriously consider and pursue skills training as a viable option for sustainable living.

Mrs. Manu made the remarks at the inauguration of the Sunyani Youth Development Association (SYDA) Integrated Sewing Project on Wednesday 7th October, 2020 at the Sunyani Youth Development Center. The project which is funded by the Australian High Commission in Ghana through their Direct Aid Program (DAP) seeks to train about 200 youth comprising 70% females and 30% males in dress making, beads making, smock weaving, kente weaving and smock sewing.

The initial phase of the project which was commissioned by H.E Gregory Andrews the Australian High Commissioner to Ghana also had the Municipal Chief Executive Officer for Sunyani, Hon. Mrs. Justina Owusu-Banahene, and some traditional authorities in attendance.

Beyond advocacy and development activism, SYDA also seeks to advance the cause of young people through job creation and other youth development and empowerment initiatives.

The theme for the event was “Creating skills for all towards sustainable development”.
