Recall that one of the points raised by youths in Nigeria, during the #EndSARS movement last year was a better living condition and upgrade in salary for policemen in Nigeria.
Most policemen in Nigeria are tagged as hunger and unkept, due to the level of professionalism displayed by them in carrying out their work. Most times the adage that says; “an hungry man is an angry man” is used for policemen in the country because their salary is not measurable to their responsibility, which makes Nigerians feel that since policemen are not well taken care of they can have the excuse to carry out their work inefficiently.
Meanwhile the police Barracks, Special Protection Unit, Base 6 built by the Niger Delta Development Commission feels like a bold step towards police welfarism.
