Cristiano Ronaldo sets three great records to prove he is currently the greatest player in Europe

Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus returned to winning ways as they defeated Lazio 2-1 at the Alianz Stadium to go eight points clear off second place Inter Milan. Ronaldo’s brace helped Juventus return to winning ways after failing to in in their last three games despite being in good position in two of the games. 

Maurizio Sarri made six changes to the team that drew three all to Sassuolo midweek. Danilo, Pjanic, Matuidi, Higuain, Chiellini and Bernadeschi were replaced by Cuadrado, Bonucci, Ramsey, Rabiot, Dybala and Douglas Costa. Cuadrado and Dybala returned to the starting lineup after serving one game suspension in mid-week draw at Mapei Stadium. Inzaghi Simone made three changes to his team team that played goalless against Udinese. The first half ended goalless as both sides hit the wood work. Left back Sandro hit the woodwork when he connected to De Ligt volley in the 11th minute with his head. The Brazilian header hits the post as Juventus were close to going in the lead. Just before half time the away side almost scored from a counter attack. Lazio’s top scorer Ciro Immobile hit the wood work from a powerful low strike in the 44th minute almost scoring the opener. 

Cristiano Ronaldo opened scoring for Juventus in the second half. The Portuguese shot was blocked by Bastos who unfortunately for him the ball hit his hand. After long conversation with VAR referees and seeing the side pitch monitor the referee awarded Juventus a penalty. Cristiano Ronaldo converted easily from the spot, scoring his 29th goal of the season. 

Two minutes later, the Portuguese scored his second for the game and his 30th Serie A goal of the season. Dybala dispossess Felipe in the midfield then races one on one with Lazio’s goal keeper. The Argentine then sees Ronaldo free in the box he squares the ball to the Portuguese who then tabs in to an empty net in the 54th minute. Ciro Immobile scored a consolation for Lazio in the 82nd minute. The Italian raced on to a through pass but Bonucci was hot on his heels, the Italian gets a slight touch to the ball before being fouled by Bonucci. The referee awarded Lazio penalty, before Immobile took the penalty, Ronaldo walked up to Szczesny offering advice to the Polish goal keeper. Immobile converted his penalty going level with Ronaldo on 30 goals this season.

It was a frantic closing six minutes for Juventus. The old ladies held on as they defeated Lazio 2-1. With the brace scored, Cristiano Ronaldo has now scored 50 Serie A goals, becoming the first player to score 50 plus league goals in Serie A, La Liga and the Premier League. He is also the first Juventus player since 1952 to score 30 goals in a Serie A season and also the fastest player to reach 50 Serie A goals since his 1985 birth (61games)
