Ondo State Technical Colleges Appeal to NDDC to Complete Their Abandoned Projects At Oka, OWo


The Ondo State Technical Colleges have appealed to the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to please return to their abandoned projects at GTCs , Iwaro Oka Akoko and OWo.

According to the colleges' Principals, in 2015, during President Goodluck Jonathan's administration, a team of NDDC contractor came to Government Technical Colleges in Iwaro Oka Akoko and OWo in Ondo State for the purpose of renovating the Colleges' buildings .

Then , the contractor started the renovation projects by supplying all the materials needed for the projects and wanted to remove all the roofs of the buildings but for the Colleges' principals objected to idea , advised the contractor to do the projects one after the other, which the contractor obliged.

The contractor removed the roof of a well standard building which consists of several offices , classrooms and laboratory at Government Technical College in Iwaro Oka Akoko , while at GTC OWo, the roof of an hostel building, consists of about thirty students' rooms was removed for renovation .

As at the time of filling up this report, information reveals that some of these abandoned projects have collapsed .

Meanwhile, the Principals of two colleges said all their efforts to get the NDDC's contractor back to the projects proved abortive.

The Principals therefore called on the Ministry of Niger-Delta Affairs, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and other stakeholders at the Federal and State levels to prevail on the NDDC's contractors to return to the affected colleges to complete their abandoned projects.
