"Therefore there remains a rest for the people of God." Hebrews 4:9.
Our God is not a master manipulator. He is a caring Father who always desires quiet serenity for His children. Even though He can never be fatigued, He slept after six days of creation to show us the importance of rest (Genesis 2:2). As a result, anytime we find ourselves in a stressful situation that prevents us from sleeping, a prayerful investigation usually reveals either human error or enemy dangers. In Jesus' Name, I pray for anybody going through a difficult time, overwhelmed by life's burdens and seeing no prospect of rescue in sight: receive God's rest now.
The biggest worry of humans from one age to the next has been rest from foes and the trials of life. People have been experiencing adversity, trouble, and agony on a daily basis since God's judgment arrived on humanity for Adam and Eve's sins (Genesis 3:17-19). Humanity toiled in these severe conditions without rest until the arrival of Jesus, the world's Messiah and Savior.
He encouraged us to rest all around in Himself in Matthew 11:28, saying, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy burdened, and I will give you rest.” This proclamation portrays Jesus as the source of rest from unpaid labor, opponents, life's difficulties, and the promised rest with God in eternity. Those who respond to His invitation will find complete rest on earth as well as eternal rest with God in heaven.
Rest can also be interpreted as a sign of confidence or dependability. When a person in a difficult situation gives up all personal efforts, it indicates faith in and reliance on the help of a greater force. Those who seek rest in Jesus will never be disappointed. “Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him,” says Psalm 37:7. “Fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his ways, because of him who brings wicked devices to pass.”
Because our God is the final authority in heaven and on earth, the Holy Spirit is underlining in this verse that when an enemy is so powerful, well-connected, and reputed to have successfully carried out wicked plans in the past, you should rest in the Lord and patiently wait for His redemption. No matter what you are going through, if you accept the Lord's offer to come into His rest today, you will find peace for your soul in Jesus' Name.
Father, please give me complete rest during my time here on earth, in Jesus' name.
