Abeokuta is a city on the rise. Abeokuta is the capital city of Ogun State, a state in South Western part of Nigeria. The state was created on 3 February,1976 alongside other six states from the existing twelve states, by General Murtala Mohammed led military administration. The state is administratively divided into twelve local government areas namely Ewekoro,Ado-Ode/Ota, Abeokuta North, Abeokuta South,Ijebu North,Ijebu East,Ifo,Ijebu North East,Ikenne,Imeko Afom,Ipokia,Ijebu Ode, Obafemi Owode,Odogbolu,Odeda,Ogun Ogun Waterside,Yewa North,Shagamu,Sagamu,Remo North and many more. The state has witnessed infrastructural developments from successive governments in the past and continues to witness. The state has produced prominent people in Nigeria in almost every sphere of human endeavour. Some of this people are Mike Adenuga, Olusegun Obasanjo,Wole Soyinka,Late MKO Abiola,Late Obafemi Awolowo,Beko Ransome Kuti,Fela Kuti,Yemi Osinbajo and host of others.
The capital city of Abeokuta can now boast of well-paved and tarred roads with street and traffic lights; pedestrian and vehicular bridges; institutions of higher learning; shopping malls, relaxation facilities, hospitals, hotels, standard open markets and many more.
