The Executive Secretary of the policy think tank, Danquah Institute (DI) has prevailed on Ghanaians to view and consider ‘Dumsor’ that plague the country some years ago as a self-inflicted exercise in the country.
He noted that a government in the time past sat down for things in the energy sector of the economy to get to the levels of power crisis known in Ghanaian parlance as’ Dumsor.’
I have always believed that Dumsor is a self-inflicted exercise visited on innocent Ghanaians by a government, DI boss said.
Mr. Richard Ahiagba made this comment speaking on Accra-based Metro TV’s morning political discussion show dubbed’ Good Morning Ghana’ hosted by Dr. Randy Abbey.
According to him, the then governing National Democratic Congress(NDC) administration led by former President John Dramani Mahama to sit down and watch the situation get out of hand.
He said instead of the NDC being proactive, it sat down for things in the energy sector to get out of hand in 2015 leading to Dumsor.
He said this self-inflicted because the NDC failed to be proactive in the management of the crisis when it reared its ugly head.
The NDC failed to find proactive measures to fight the Dumsor canker in the country, he said.
He explained that the NDC instead of finding money to pay the level of indebtedness in the energy sector sat down for the situation to get out of hand.
