Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) in conjunction with the County Government of Nairobi has issued an ultimatum to all its tenants around the city.
In a notice released on Tuesday, January 18, NMS announced that the migration from the manual payment system to the new Nairobi Revenue System (NRS) had commenced.
All the 17,000 tenants are expected to pay their house rent and bills via the NRS beginning February 1.
"Notice is hereby given that the Nairobi City Government in collaboration with Nairobi Metropolitan Services will be migrating all county house tenants to the Nairobi Revenue System (NRS) for online payment. The exercise will commence on January 18, 2022.
"Upon receiving bills, tenants will be required to make payments against NRS generated bills with effect from February 1, 2022. All future payments of house rent should be done through NRS for ease of compliance," read the notice in part.
Some of the services the tenants will enjoy under the new system include making their payments via the efficient mobile money system and receiving feedback via a short message service (SMS).
The NRA will also track the tenants' data and send their monthly house rent and bills through SMS as well as automatically update their NRA portals in a timely manner.
Tenants will also be able to access their payment receipts on the portal.
