No fewer than nine (9) suspected cultists were on Wednesday paraded by the Oyo State Police Command in Oyo town. Weapons recovered from them include a locally-made gun, machete, and other dangerous weapons.
Addressing newsmen at the Police Command headquarters, CP Vivian Ngozi Onadeko, the State Police Commissioner, revealed that officers of Atiba Police Division got wind of the information that some cultists had gathered in the area to do their handing-over and also initiate some new members.
The security operatives immediately swung into action and apprehended nine of the cultists. After a thorough interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime and disclosed that they were all members of the notorious Eiye Confraternity.
CP Onadeko further said: “I will continue to enjoin parents and guardians to talk to their wards and children. They should know what they are doing, like those arrested now — their parents thought they were in school, but you can see what they have ended up doing.
“So, we will continue doing our duties to make sure Oyo State is safe and secure”.
