Some political commentators believe that the upcoming general elections in August have been reduced to a two-horse race at this point. The two most prominent candidates for president are the Deputy President, William Ruto, who is campaigning under the banner of the Kenya Kwanza alliance, and the ODM leader, Raila Odinga, who is campaigning under the banner of the Azimio la umoja One Kenya coalition party. Ruto is expected to win the election.
The former prime minister has been camping out in Western Kenya for the past two days in the hopes of gaining the support of Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang'ula, both of whom have joined the Kenya Kwanza alliance. His goal is to convince them to side with him.
Didmus Barasa, a member of parliament for Kimilili, has commented on the rumored visit by ODM leader Raila Omollo Odinga to the Tongaren seat in Bungoma county.
It seems as though Raila has drawn a lesser turnout for this event in western Kenya in compared to his other gatherings there in the past.
As a consequence of the event, Barasa took to social media in order to mockingly criticize Raila. At the same time, he dared Raila to visit the Kimilili constituency, even though he implied that Raila would not be able to attract a large audience there.
"A massive Tinga rally took place in the Ndalu Tongaren Constituency in Bungoma. We will be waiting for you in Kimilili. Please come there "It was stated by him.
