It's a good news to students who sat for Kenya Certificate of Primary Education as the Ministry is set to carry out Form One Selection exercise. This comes after a long holiday they have had since the results were released. The outbreak of Covid 19 pandemic had interfered with the school calendar and putting in place all the guidelines to ensure that the form ones are placed in schools has not been an easy task. The Ministry of Education through his head, Cabinet Secretary Professor George Magoha confirmed that all the 1,179,192 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education candidates will have an equal chance to be placed in secondary school. This was as per the government of Kenya directive which will ensure there is 100% transition.
In his speech, Prof George Magoha, he stated that the form one selection shall be conducted on 28th May 2021 from which all the 2020 KCPE students are expected to join form one in July this year. He confirmed that the process would be free and fair by even warning National Schools Principals who have been interfering with process by selecting students of their choice in prior.
Having ensured the 100% transition policy by the government of Kenya, students are expected to join their various schools after the selection process is over. The selection would be conducted by a multi-sectoral team who will be meeting at Naivasha to put down guidelines on this selection process. Prof. George Magoha said that this multi sectoral team are to be derived from the Directorate of Secondary School education headed by Paul Kibet, Quality Assurance Staff, some members from the Department of ICT and a representative from Kenya National Examination Council to ensure that the process is free and fair.
