Kapseret constituency member of Parliament Honorable Oscar Sudi has revealed another latest opinion poll placing deputy president William Samoe Ruto ahead of the former prime minister Raila Amolo Odinga by a landslide margin of 58 percent.

According to Mr. Sudi findings, deputy president will beat his the former prime minister in August election with him getting 58 percent of cast votes against his close competitor Mr. Odinga who will gunner 37 percent of all cast votes.

While addressing his fans in social media, Mr. Sudi said that the deputy president commands approximately 80 percent of the populous Rift Valley votes against 10 percent for Mr. Odinga, with undecided or refusing to answer totaling 2 percent.

In Nyanza, Mr. Odinga holds on to his base with 72 percent of the vote compared to 18 percent for Dr. Ruto, with 10 percent still to make up their minds.

In both the respective strongholds, Mr. Sudi said the total numbers are also influenced by areas within that remain contested. Going by 2013 and 2017 voting records, Dr. Ruto should expect more than 90 percent of the vote in the northern Rift Valley, but the overall percentage is reduced by zones in the central and southern Rift Valley—Nakuru, Kajiado and Narok counties—where Mr. Odinga has substantial support.

The converse is true in Nyanza where Mr. Odinga would comfortably command more than 90 percent of the vote, but the numbers show Dr. Ruto making inroads in Kisii and Nyamira counties, which impact on the regional total.

Concerning the selection of Honorable Rigathe Gachagua as Ruto's running mate, Mr. Sudi said that Gachagua is a sure bet who will drums full support for deputy president in Mt Kenya region.

Ruto said that Gachagua is one of his trusted ally and as such he would want him in his national campaign to boost his chances of becoming president next year.

Mr. Sudi said that Mr. Gachagua is seen as a powerful force in Central Kenya politics due to his strong mobilization skills and deep pockets, even though he faces numerous corruption battles with the government.

A loosely translated in politics, and the Ruto was asking the residents to allow the MP to play politics on the national stage, opposed to seeking any elective seat in the county or constituency.

Another area of interest is the vote-rich Mt Kenya region, President Uhuru Kenyatta’s base, that in the last two elections gave the Jubilee ticket an overwhelming vote of between 96 and 99 percent.

“Other areas of interest are the key battlegrounds of Western Kenya and Lower Eastern region, which in the last two elections voted strongly for Mr. Odinga, but are now vulnerable to encroachment by the Ruto campaign", he said.

“In the wider Eastern region, the Nation poll gives Dr. Ruto and Mr. Odinga an equal 40 percent each. However, the region also includes Meru and Tharaka-Nithi counties, which are considered part of the Mt Kenya voting block that is solidly behind Dr. Ruto.

When the Lower Eastern counties of Machakos, Kitui and Makueni are isolated, Mr. Odinga commands a clear lead, but the deputy president is also making gains.” He added.
