A 23-year-olm mother who was carrying a baby lost her life on Monday, July 5 after being knocked down by a speeding truck. The child narrowly escaped death in the accident which happened at Ndhiwa town in Homa Bay.

Sharon Otieno and her girl were knocked down by the speeding truck along Sori – Rodi Kopany Road.
The lady was allegedly walking along the road on he way towards Rodi Kopany with the baby on her chest when she was hit from behind and sent to the side of the road.
"She had the child on her chest when the truck abruptly knocked her and threw her to the other side," said one eye witness.
The lady had serious head injuries which she succumbed to at the scene while the kid escaped with minor ones. She was immediately taken to Ndhiwa for emergency care.
Her mother passed on at the scene before well-wishers could take her to the hospital.
The lady's body was moved to Manyatta Kobodo funeral home.
Confirming the accident, Ndhiwa Sub County Police Boss, Robert Aboki said the driver of the truck has been arrested and investigations launched to determine the actual cause of the accident.
