Liverpool edged towards their first title in 30 years with emphatic defeat of Crystal Palace by 4 goals to nill.
Liverpool will emphatically claim their first ever Premier League title, and their first league title for 30 years, should Manchester City fail to defeat Chelsea away on Thursday evening.
A convincing 4-0 victory at Anfield over Crystal Palace extended Liverpool’s remarkable lead to 23 points over City who have played a game fewer. If City win at Stamford Bridge then Liverpool will be champions if they avoid defeat away to Pep Guardiola’s side next Thursday.
Winning the title has been inevitable for Liverpool long before the lockdown and they are also on course to be crowned victors by the biggest ever margin of victory. They can also still finish with a record 107 points.
Such statistics will matter little to Liverpool as they are finally set to end their long and painful quest since 1990 to bring the title back to Anfield. It will also banish fears that the coronavirus pandemic could have denied them such a deserved title win.
