20 Habits That Can Make You Fit and Very Successful in Life

Habits are like an automatic pilot that helps your life in a way that you are not fully conscious of, to achieve your purpose or success.

You have to understand that everybody on earth was created to be successful. We can all be successful. But not everybody is successful and the reason why is because we do not have the habits that drive success.

The habits that can make you a successful millionaire in less than 10 years are;

1. Sleep

The perfect sleeping period is 8 hours. Though this sounds like a very small thing, do not underestimate the big difference some of these things can make. You are a human being and that means that you comprise of spirit, soul and body.

This is why you need sleep. You divide your day into three: 8 hours for sleep; 8 hours for your soul, and 8 hours for your body. That makes it 24 hours.

If you don’t sleep properly, you will have issues with your mood and anxiety and that will lead to depression.

2. Prayer

When you wake up, the first thing you should do is pray. Do not take your phone or anything else too seriously as it is important to put prayer first. It does not matter what your God is like; it is important to pray. Don’t forget, flowing with any religion is better than no religion at all.

Whatever you believe in to be the way of God, follow it and pray. Always connect to God before you connect to man whenever you wake up.

You can extend to reading scriptures after praying. It can be your Bible, Quran or any scripture supported by your belief system.

3. Drink Water When You Wake Up

The water can be hot or of normal temperature, but when you wake up, it is important you drink a lot of water.

As a human being, 63% of your body is made out of water. For the brain, it is 73%, and so when your body is dehydrated (out of water), it affects you more than anything.

Anyone can go on without eating for three weeks but no one can go well without drinking water. In 4 days or less, one could die if he or she doesn’t drink enough water.

If for instance you divide the world into four parts, you will realize that three parts are made up of water and that explains why water is essential to life.

4. Workout

Using your phone as example, you see that before it powers up, it goes through a process. If you use an apple phone for instance, the first thing you see is the apple icon/logo and then other things follow, step by step.

In same vein, the body has a process and this is where the need for workout sets in. You can use a gym or just press-up, push-ups and all that.

5. Read Daily

There is no doubt that the reason you brush your teeth is because you want to look good, smell nice and have good breath when you communicate as the case may be. In essence, if you don’t maintain your mind by reading, you will become mind blind, and when you go mind blind, a lot of things will happen: you will be less-mentally sound, and existing knowledge may expire.

6. Write down regularly

Ideas will always come to your mind but if you don’t write those ideas down, they will go because a short pencil is longer than a long memory.

7. Time management

A lot of people manage their money but do not manage their time. Time management is also called scheduling while money management is called budgeting.

Why is it important to manage your time? It is because time is more valuable than money. That is why rich people or wealthy people like Bill Gates, Ellon Musk, and other don’t manage their money, they rather manage their time but then employ what we may call “Money manager”.

Manage your time by scheduling because time is more precious than money.

8. Manage your money by budgeting

You don’t just spend money on impulse; you should spend money on purpose. Decide for your money on where to and where not to go. If you don’t do that, you would be putting a lot of problems on your life because you will just be living by chance.

9. Manage your thoughts

A lot of people just think things that come into their mind. It is important to guard your mind so that you will only think of what is good, loving and just.

10. Control only what you can

There is no need worrying and bothering yourself about things you cannot control or change. Anxiety comes in when you try to control things that are beyond you.

If for instance you have a train to catch and you drive into the train station, and a tree falls in front of your car, and you have to find a way to get the tree out or get help, and thereafter you get to the station late and realize the train is gone.

You don’t complain here because you could not control the tree falling down. What you could control was finding an alternative and all that was expected was to focus all your mind on getting an alternative.

10. Practice patience

A lot of people don’t understand patience. They think that patience is the ability to wait but patience is not the ability to wait; it is the ability to have a good attitude while you’re waiting.

11. Eat organics

Organic foods are better than man-made foods. Organics help put your body and system in their right shape.

12. Listen more than you speak

When you listen, you’re learning but when you speak, others are learning from you. You give out when people learn from you but if you do not listen, then you are not taking in and you will eventually go empty. That is why people will see you as boring. It is important to balance listening and speaking. But in all, listen more and speak less.

13. Practice BIG-PICTURE thinking

Big-picture thinking is looking ahead in a wholistic view. Take other people and second chances into account. If you don’t look at the big picture, you will become so full of yourself and selfish.

14. Work with flow

Maybe you’re composing an email or writing a business plan, it is important to prepare yourself for maybe 15minutes before the event. Why 15 minutes? It is because it takes 15 minutes for the mind to enter into what we call “flow”.

Flow is a state whereby all your mental sharpness, nimbleness or mind has gone into a mental state whereby it can immediately capture all your intellectual powers and then translate them into that event that you are doing.

15. Don’t waste anything

Do not think that you will be wasting money, food or any resources because you are averagely rich.

16. Always plan

Planning brings the future into the present, making you able to manipulate and adjust things to make you able to optimize the future properly.

17. Understand the law of process

There is a law of process in everything. When dealing with other people, you have to understand that there is a process – because other people cannot read your mind. Do not rush into people unless you follow through the process of getting to know and understand them.

18. Do not procrastinate

Procrastination is the act of delaying or putting off tasks until the last minute, or past their deadline. It is a form of self-regulation failure characterized by the irrational delay of tasks despite potentially negative consequences. One who procrastinates cannot be successful as he or she expects.

19. Focus on one thing at a time

Multitasking may be a great distraction. It is important to focus on a thing at a time and do whatever it is so well.

20. Regularly reflect on your life’s journey

Reflection makes you see things clearly. This covers areas you’ve underperformed and areas you’ve remarkably done well. This will help you adjust and do things in a better way, and eventually make you successful.


Your life does not get better by chance; your life will only get better by choice and that is your choice.

And your choices become habits and your habits become your destiny.
