Senate minority leader, Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe has revealed that he does not want Nigeria to breakup even though he has in the past stood as a surety for the leader of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, when Kanu was standing trial before he escaped out of the country.
Senator Abaribe said the people that want Nigeria to breakup are those who have refused to manage our diversity as a nation.
While speaking during a meeting organized by his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he said, “i think that no one in Nigeria wants Nigeria to breakup. He said, the people that want Nigeria to breakup are those that have refused, are those that have been told to manage our diversity, and have refused to let the southeast have any say at all in the security of this nation.”
Speaking further, he said, “those that want to breakup this country are those that have made nepotism essential part of government. Are those that have made ethnic triumphalism, that only one part of this country is important enough and only one religion matters. So those that have refused to manage our diversity are actually those that are pushing us to the precipice. But like the government has said, God forbid!”
