Police in Lugari have opened inquiries into the death of a procurement officer at the Turbo National Youth Service (NYS) station whose body was found decomposing inside his home. On his report, the Sub-county Police Commander Bernard Ngungu said the officer who stays all alone did not report to his work station since Tuesday last week raising concern from his colleagues.
“He did not report for work since Tuesday, and no one knew where he was,” the sub-county police chief said.
His coworkers initiated a search for him after failing to see him for more than five days and broke into his home, which had been locked from the inside.
Before the matter was reported to Turbo police station, the staff was forced to break a windowpane to the officer's home, where they were shocked to find his decomposing body lying on the floor.
The security team and NYS personnel were forced to break the back door in order to gain access to the body, which was later removed and transported to Kimbilio Home Nursing Mortuary in neighboring Uasin Gishu County for postmortem.
The case has been taken over by the DCI department, according to Ngungu, who is investigating the cause of his death.
