Pimples are caused by acne. It affects almost all categories of people. It is a disorder of the hair follicles of the skin. Pimples are as a result of many reasons. The major reasons include family history, adolescence, and gender. Pimples are common among women than in men.
Factors involved in the formation of pimples. The most common factor which leads to formation of pimples is increase in sebum production in the body. When sebum accumulate around the hair follicles, pimples form. Also, bacteria in the sebaceous follicle can stimulate formation of pimples.
How to deal with pimples.
1. Use of retinoids. Retinoids are vitamin A derivatives which prevent formation of pimples. Retinoids can have side effects hence should only be used upon prescription. Some of the side effects include skin dryness, scaling and getting affected by sun rays.
Retinoids are found in many forms. The most available forms are tazarotene, adapalene and tretinoin. Also, there are lotions, creams and gels which can be used. Incase sensitivity occurs, report to your doctor for other recommendations.
2.Benzoyl Peroxide. Benzoyl Peroxide contains antibacterial properties which kill bacteria on the skin. It can be prescribed or bought as an over the counter medication. It comes in the form of a cream, lotion or gel.
Common side effects include bleaching of the hair and irritation of the skin. Discontinue incase you develop adverse side effects and consult your doctor.
3.Oral isotretinoin. It's normally taken orally by people with a family history of acne. It is taken when someone has severe acne and all other therapies have failed.
