14 people killed as police repel bandits attack in Benue

Fourteen armed bandits were reportedly killed in the early hours of Sunday morning in Katsina-Ala town, Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State, after a gun duel with the police, according to reports.


The armed robbers were claimed to have met their doom when they raided a police station in the town where some of the bandits were being detained, according to local reports.


According to a source from the town who only identified himself as Kajo, the bandits, who numbered approximately 50 in number, had driven to the police station in Toyota Corolla automobiles, which were colloquially known as "duck nyash."


According to reliable reports, the police engaged the robbers in a gun duel, which resulted in the deaths of 14 of the attackers.

We began hearing gunshots around 1:30 a.m. today (Sunday) in the vicinity of the Katsina-Ala police station, and everyone in the neighborhood was roused by the sporadic gunshots and prayed to God.


“It was around 5:00 a.m. when some leaders in the area came to the station after making contact with the Divisional Police Officer, or DPO.
