More than 50 families from Konyit farm Ainabkoi, Subcounty have been rendered

homeless after a group of hired goons evicted them from their farm.

The armed robbers descended at the 100 acres Konyit farm in Ainabkoi Sub County and ordered the families to vacate the farm saying they were acting on orders from the alleged multi-million shilling property owner.

Alice Tebelo, one of the displaced victims said they were

flushed out of their houses in the wee hours of the morning by the goons who refused to listen to them.

"The eviction has forced our school going children

including Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education candidates to dropout of school and spend the nights out in the cold due to lack of shelter," Tebelo said while speaking to the press.

She said they have been forced to sleep on the roadside.

“We have been sleeping on the roadside with our school going children after the goons demolished our houses on orders from the alleged owner of the property. We were born and bred on this land for over 40 years and we have nowhere else to go as this was our home for those decades,” cried Tebelo.

Mzee John Kangiro condemned the incident terming it as uncalled for.

"It is sad that we have been evicted yet we have stayed here for over 50 years, where do they expect me to go with my grown up children who were born and bred in this place called," he wondered.

Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Stephen Kihara who confirmed the incident has promised to liaise with relevant national government department with a view to address the matter which he described as thorny in the region.
