Africa's first battery pick up bakkie has been built by South African electric car and battery company, Mazibuko Motor Company. The company is based in Durban, South Africa. The car is called Mazibuko M1B. A 29-year-old Nhlanhla Mazibuko is the Founder and CEO of the company.

Mazibuko Motor Company is a battery electric and technology company based in South Africa, that develops electric vehicles including technologies used for autonomous driving, battery storage and power generation.

Started work in 2019 and then officially founded in July of 2020 and have been running ever since with 1 Founder and 54 trading Partners & Suppliers. It is the vision of Mazibuko Motor Company to see Africa move away from internal combustion engine vehicles to clean battery-electric vehicles while creating a carbon zero energy system and a on a mission to build a fleet of locally manufactured smart, durable, and safe electric vehicles that helps us move away from use of fossil fuels and build a sustainable transport system.

During it's first full year of operations, the company was fortune enough to attract and find some of the best engineers and designers in the country and from around the world. One of the most important things of Mazibuko Motor Company is creating a great culture fit for the team and making sure that it's beliefs are all in line.
