There are so many youngsters with huge potentials in the youth setup of some top football clubs, but most of the times their dreams to one day break into the first team of their respective clubs and become regulars never come through.
There are so many cases of youngsters failing to fulfill the potential they showed at an early age, during the Arsene Wenger era at Arsenal the club invested heavily in youth development and so many top stars would go on to represent the first team, the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Jack Wilshire, Aaron Ramsey, Wojciech Szczesny and so many other young players went on to represent the first team for many years.
Cesc Fabregas and Jack Wilshire are a few of the successful once, let's take a look at some of the players that never got to break into the first team, although a couple of them made some appearances but they never forced the manager into keeping them for the long run.
1. Kelechi Nwakali
Having captained the Nigeria U17 national team to a the 2015 World Cup, where he won the golden ball award and Nigeria won the tournament, Kelechi Nwakali earned himself a move to Arsenal.
Work permit issues saw that he went out on loan four times, three times in Netherland and once with the Porto B team, after failing to make an appearance for the Arsenal first team he joined Huesca on a permanent deal.
2. Gideon Zelalem
The American International was touted as one of the best youngsters in the Arsenal academy, the German born midfielder earned himself comparisons with the likes of Fabregas and Mesut Ozil but he was unable to live up to the hype.
He was sent out on numerous loans, including Rangers and VVV-Venlo, In 2019, he left Arsenal for Sporting Kansas City after failing to make a senior career appearance for the gunners.
3. Isaac Hayden
Unlike some of the other players mentioned here, Hayden made a couple of appearances for the gunners but he couldn't make the grade and he was eventually sold in 2016.
Hayden could play in midfield and defence, he currently plays for Newcastle where he has been since leaving Arsenal in 2016.
4. Ismael Bennacer
The Algerian footballer joined Arsenal in 2015, he spent two seasons with the gunners before joining Empoli on a permanent basis, at Empoli his talents blossomed and he earned himself a permanent move to AC Milan.
Arsenal reportedly earned £3m - £5m from Empoli selling the players to Milan, he is currently at Milan after failing to make a single appearance for the gunners senior year.
5. Donyell Malen
Malen joined Arsenal from Ajax in 2015 and left the club in 2017, he would go on to join Jong Ajax were he scored 13 goals in 22 games, PSV quickly snapped him up the next season, the Dutch International recently made represented his nation in the just concluded Euros tournament.
According to reports, he is set to make a £30m move to Dortmund after a stellar season with PSV.
6. Marcus Mcguane
The 22 years old central midfielder spent his entire youth career at Arsenal, in 2018 he joined Barcelona B team without breaking into the Arsenal first team, he currently plays for Oxford United in the League One.
7. Coheen Bramall
Cohen played none League football before Arsene Wenger snapped him up in 2017 for a reported £40,000k transfer fee, the left back travelled with the gunners first team on their preseason tour of Asis and Australia.
He made his senior debut in preseason, before joining Birmingham on loan, in his return he didn't make another senior appearance for the club before he was released.
