Why Should Teachers Be Made To Pay 30% Cost For Laptop Meant For TLM?

Teaching-Learning Materials (TLMs) are important for the teachers in teaching his/her lesson effectively as it help him/her to a better interpretation and appreciation of the concepts, contents as well as the subject matter. TLMS also enables the students to proceeds towards concrete learning.

The use of computer as a teaching and learning material helps the teacher to do research in order to plan ahead of the lesson, Computer with internet connection gives the teacher access to the internet.

In preparation of lesson notes, teachers get access to electronic textbooks and other content related to the the subject on the internet.

The New GES ICT Policy states that, government will help teachers to own a laptop by taking seventy percent of the cost and the teacher pay the remaining thirty(30) percent.

Ghana Education Service is responsible to provide teachers with tools that will facilitate teaching and learning in the classroom, Ghana Education Service provide textbooks and teachers guide for schools at no cost to the teacher.

Employers provide tools for their employees to work with, employees are not responsible for the tools the use to execute their jobs.

Why should teachers be made to pay part of the tools that help them to execute their jobs as teachers.

Laptops change classroom circumstances, making it easier for teachers to engage students in substantive, collaborative, project-based work. Laptops also made planning and group communication easier for the teachers. The teacher is not supposed to pay for the cost of tools that to make teaching and learning effective in the classroom.
