Azimio la umoja One Kenya coalition party presidential candidate Raila Odinga is facing a mammoth task ahead in the quest to nominate a running mate ahead of the fast approaching 28th of April deadline set by the independent electoral and boundaries commission (IEBC).

Among those who have been adversely mentioned as formidable running mate candidates to the ODM party leader are Mt Kenya region leaders led by NARC Kenya party leader Martha Karua, Lee Kinyanjui of Jubilee party/Ubuntu party, Nderitu Mureithi, Peter Kenneth and even Murang'a woman representative Hon Sabina Chege.

However, details have emerged indicating that NARC Kenya party leader Martha Karua who has declared her interest in the Kirinyaga county governor seat is ready to vacate her ambitions to bring down the rule of current governor Anne Waiguru.

The revelations were made by a local daily which cited reports from local leaders. The leaders led by Kirinyaga senator Charles Kibiru expressed their confidence that Karua is fit to play politics at the national level and would graciously vacate local politics, urging Raila Odinga to consider her.

His sentiments were echoed by Jubilee party Kirinyaga county party leader Muriithi Kang'ara and deputy governor Peter Ndambiri who said Karua is fit for the deputy president slot and would vacate Kirinyaga county gubernatorial election bid.
