Journalists drawn from different media houses were chased away from a meeting of Members of County assembly in Kakamega. The meeting was being headed by Kakamega Governor wycliff Oparanya and was aimed to discuss the BBI document.

According to the video that has been circulating online, Oparanya questioned why the journalists were present and yet he had informed them that this was a private meeting involving members of county assembly from the county.

Inquiring on whether to let them cover the meeting, the MCA’s agreed in one voice to have the press chased away from the venue and that is when Oparanya issued an order to have them pack their belongings and leave. This move was castigated by the journalists present.

The BBI debate has continued to divide Kenyans with those opposed to it continuing to marshal support from Kenyans to reject the document. So far two counties have already passed the bill with Baringo County rejecting it last week.
