Mark Otieno, a Kenyan 100m sprint racer, made headlines a few days ago after allegations of a banned substance found in him at the event.

After days of silence, Otieno decided to make a press release on his Twitter handle to clear his name saying he was innocent and had never used any doping substance in his career.

He wrote that he had appealed the result and decision and had requested for further tests. He went on to categorically state that he had never used any doping substance of any kind. He holds his integrity as an athlete and as an individual and was honoured to fly the Kenyan flag at the world event. Having said this, he would never jeopardize his team mates or himself.

He thanks God for bringing him thus far and hopes that he will eventually clear his name and proceed with his athletic journey.

Here is the official press release on his Twitter account.

Ferdinand Omanyala, another 100m sprinter, on the other hand has proceeded to the semi finals and has attained a national record of 10.01sec.

Kenya has not yet secured any medal at the Olympics. Thank you for reading my article.
