Ghana Education Service begun the distribution of the questionnaires on the 2021 Annual School Census yesterday, Monday 31st May, 2021.
The supervisory body has also commenced the training workshops for Heads of school on the 2021 Annual School Census (ASC) for all Pre-tertiary schools in the country, that is both public and private. This is a perennial activity.
Heads of Schools have been given just five (5) working days to answer and submit the completed census questionnaire to the Deputy Director in charge of Statistics and Planning Officers at District, Municipal and Metropolitan Educational Directorates.
Heads of Schools quickly raised questions as the time is too limited. However, the Statistics and Planning Officers have claimed that, Ghana Education Service Headquarters is also on the standby for the data to be forwarded to them by mid June.
The Census questionnaire seeks to know the number of pupils who got pregnant during the last academic year, number of toilet a school has, whether or not a has access to good drinking water, number of school dropped outs amongst other things.
The Annual School Census covers all schools from creche, nursery, kindergarten, primary, Junior and Senior high schools across the Ghana.
