Health Boss Refutes Claims COVID-19 Patient Escaped From Kangundo Isolation Ward

Machakos county health boss Dr.Ancent Kituku has rubbished claims that a COVID-19 patient escaped from Kangundo hospital isolation center

While addressing journalists Kituku said that all the eight patients were at the facility and one of them had been transferred to Machakos level five hospital as he was in need of oxygen.

He asked residents to treat the claims by some people as fake.

"I want to clear some claims mostly to Kangundo people, there are people peddling lies that a patient managed to escape from Kangundo Isolation ward. All those are lies as the patients are in the facility," said Kituku.

"Today we took one of them who was having breathing problems to Machakos level five. I would like to urge people to stop with baseless claims and stigma, " he added.

He assured that the isolation facility is well equipped to ensure the patients don't mingle and even the staff.

"All our hospitals with solutions wards are well equipped and there is no chance a COVID-19 patient to interact with other patients because the isolation wards have everything needed by the patients and doctors.

He said that on the 33 positive cases of coronavirus recorded in Machakos today, 26 are from Shalom community hospital which had been closed.

Five are from Mavoko constituency while one is from the Yatta sub-county.

"We have 33 cases of coronavirus in Machakos, 26 of them are from Shalom hospital while five come from Mavoko while one comes from Kwa Kulu in Yatta sub-county," he said.

He asked residents to continue adhering to the laid down rules by the ministry of health in a bid to avoid the spread of the virus.
