Orange Democratic Party leader Raila Odinga today received a huge boost after a total of 30 governors physically endorsed his bid to vie for presidency for the fifth time. Odinga met the Azimio allied governors in Naivasha on Monday.
The meeting consisted of governors from all parts of the country including central and Rift Valley. A total of 30 sitting governors attended while up to 5 sent their apologies for not attending due to a two day short notice given concerning the meeting me
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Mr Odinga insisted on the importance of collaborating with the governors since its through such collaborations that there will be a seamless communication between the national government and the county governments. He also said that such collaborations will make development projects in the counties much easier to implement.
On his side, Nakuru county governor Lee Kinyanjui while speaking to NTV's Kennedy Mureithi, he said Kenyans must ensure President Kenyatta leaves power to a trustworthy leader; one who will ensure devolution prospers. He said that there is no way devolution will be safe in Ruto's hands since he was opposed to its inception in 2010. Also present in the meeting was Council of Governors chairman Martin Wambora who also doubles up as Embu Governor.
